Current
FMS Status
The new Fatigue
laws are due to come into force in less than
10 weeks and all the systems Burgewood has committed to
being complete are on Schedule.
.
Each of
these programs has been designed to provide transport operators an
informed method of going from the old to the new regulations. When using
such programs it will provide the necessary tools to comply with the
validation process of COR. However, many operators are asking can this
be a planning tool? The short answer is not quiet. It can be if the
driver information is up to date so all the calculations that relate to
the previous 14 days are considered.
Planning Tools - FMS Calculator's
design lends itself to becoming a planning tool in a number of ways.
- Re
design the input of FMS Calculator to allow 7 or 14 days of driver's
hours to be 'validated'; and / or
- Re
design FMS Calculator into FMS Planner - then allow trip plans (a trip
plan maybe say, Brisbane to Adelaide with a drive profile of Drive 4hrs,
rest 45min, Drive 5hrs rest 30min and so on) to be entered into a
Driver's calendar and allow FMS Planner program to determine if the
hours are ok, and give the transport operator the opportunity to vary
the start times of each trip so as to consider the impact of previous
trips; and / or
- another
method that you may think more appropriate and suits your business
better than the above two examples.
WE
NEED YOUR FEEDBACK - please consider what you might want in a
planning system and send us your thoughts. The more information we get
the better the planning tool will be.

Does
Burgewood have a program for AFM transport operators?
Not yet, we can
provide a customised AFM based FMS Calculator if we are given the AFM
parameters as described in the NTC Information Bullitin 14 "Advanced Fatigue
Management Explained". This means the FMS Calculator (AFM) would be
specifically designed for the transport operators needs and would get
Burgewood's full on-going support. We would also develop and support a
version of FMS Planner to comply with the transport operators AFM plan.
We
have an on-board tracking and reporting system that does not do the fatigue
rules completely, can we transfer data from it into FMS Calculator?
If you can
download the information from your on-board system in to a CSV file or
similar, we may be able to create a transfer file. We say maybe because
everyone has a different on-board system, so we can only confirm this by
seeing the your systems outputs.
